Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park adds three major acts to its line up for one of the biggest shows of2017. On Friday June 30th,Phil Collins will be taking to thestage in Hyde Park as part of his NotDead Yet: Live tour – one of his first onstage appearances in nearly adecade.
Joining Collins on this momentous day in HydePark is oneof the most trailblazing and influential bands of our time, Blondie. With pioneering frontwoman/songwriter Debbie Harry,guitarist/conceptual mastermind ChrisStein and powerhouse drummer ClemBurke, along with newer band mates LeighFoxx, guitarist Tommy Kesslerand keyboardist Matt Katz-Bohen, theband are sounding stronger than ever.
Duringa career spanning four decades, Blondie have delivered a lifetime of smash hitsincluding Heart of Glass, Dreaming, TideIs High, Maria, Sunday Girl, Hanging on the Telephone, Rapture, One Way orAnother, Call Me... the list goes on. Since their New York beginnings inthe 70s, Blondie have dominated thecharts on both sides of the Atlantic, selling over 40 million records in theprocess. Their chart-topping success, fearless spirit andrare longevity led to an induction into the Rock 'N’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
Withtheir much-anticipated new album due this year, Blondie are set to debut brand new songs for their 2017 tour dates,and show festival-goers why they belong at the top.
Supportinghis former band mate is fellow Genesis star and longtime friend MikeRutherford, with his supergroup Mike + The Mechanics. Since theirformation in 1984, the band has sold over 10 million records worldwide. Theirmajor hits include; SilentRunning, All I NeedIs A Miracle, Word Of Mouth, Another Cup of Coffee and the unforgettable Over My Shoulder - to name a few....
Theband includes Genesis founding member Mike Rutherford (Guitar), one of the UK’s most prolificR&B singers, Andrew Roachford -Lead and backing vocals – (whose previous hits include Cuddly Toy and FamilyMan) and Canadian-born singer, TimHowar - lead and backing vocals – who formed and toured with hisband Vantramp, withthe likes of Rod Stewart and Paolo Nutini. Tim shares vocal duties withRoachford and they both add a new soulful dimension to the band’s alreadyestablished sound.
Mike+ The Mechanics areabout to embark on a sold out 30 date UK tour, including a triumphant return tothe Royal Albert Hall, before joining Phil at his huge Hyde Park show in thesummer. Their new album, 'Let MeFly’ is released April 7th on BMG.
Starsailorburstonto the scene in 2001 with their smash hit single Fever, earning them a Brit Award for 'Best New Band' the same year.The band has released four studio albums since; scoringten Top 40 hit singles in the UK. Following a five-year hiatus in 2009, Starsailor (James Walsh, James Stelfox,Ben Byrne and Barry Westhead), returned for a triumphant world tour. This year,the Indie-rockquartet will have crowds singing along to the hitsincluding Good Souls and Silence Is Easy, all in the wonderful summer setting of Hyde Park.
